HeDian ("we", "the app") takes your privacy seriously. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and how we keep it safe.
What we collect
Account information
When you sign in or sign up, we collect:
- Email address (for sign-in and account safety)
- Phone number (collected when you sign in via SMS verification code, used to verify your identity)
- Username (optional)
- For Sign in with Apple users, the anonymous user identifier provided by Apple
Usage data
- The ingredients in your bar
- The recipes you've saved
- The recipes you've created
- Recipe cover images you've uploaded (stored on Tencent Cloud COS)
Anonymous usage analytics
To understand which features are actually used — and improve the app accordingly — we collect a small amount of anonymous usage data: one event name per action (for example "a recipe was favourited", "a recipe was shared", "a filter was applied", "a search returned nothing"), plus the app version.
We do not record which pages you browse or which recipes you look at, and events never carry anything you typed (search terms, recipe names, comments and the like are not collected).
This data:
- Is not linked to your account and is not used to track you
- The analytics data we store contains no IP address, no stable device identifier, no device model, no OS version, and no location data (as with any network request, server access logs briefly retain the source IP for security and troubleshooting, but they are not linked to this analytics data)
- Uses an anonymous identifier that rotates daily, so it cannot recognise the same device across days
Device information
We may collect basic device details (iOS version, device model) for troubleshooting. This is never used to identify you personally.
How we use this information
Information is used only to:
- Provide and improve app features
- Verify your identity and protect your account
- Respond to your support requests
- Fix bugs and improve the experience
Information sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
We rely on these third-party services:
- Tencent Cloud — server hosting, image storage, and sending SMS verification codes (only for users who sign in by phone number)
- Apple — Sign in with Apple (only for users who choose Apple sign-in)
Data security
- All traffic is encrypted over HTTPS
- Passwords are hashed; we cannot read your plain-text password
- Servers are hosted in Tencent Cloud data centres in mainland China
Data retention
We keep your data for as long as you use the app. To delete your account and associated data, please contact us.
Children's privacy
HeDian is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Policy changes
We may update this policy occasionally. For significant changes, we'll notify you within the app.
